I have just bought a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx. The basemap is pretty sparse, I thought it would have state and country roads, but only the larger interstate roads are included. I am wondering if my IMS Marine & Recreation inland mapping system (Smartmaps) that I bought for my old Lowrance Globalmap 100 can be downloaded to the Garman Mapsource program and uploaded to my Garmin. Do you have any thoughts on that? Is it a good idea? or what other options are there?
Thanks

I haven't actually tried it to be sure, but I'm comfortable saying it won't work. You should look at http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/. You can find street level and topo maps for just about anywhere.

Garmin makes perfectly decent maps for the gpsmap 60Cx. I have North America street maps and they work fine.
The formats of the maps is totally different between mfgrs; Garmin maps will not work on Lowrance, Magellan doesn't work on Garmin, etc.
