I pulled my old units out a couple weeks ago to see if they work. Both worked just fine for about an hour and then shut down. I turned them back on and after about half an hour they shut down again. This kept going on until now they will only work for a few seconds. I've tried three sets of fresh batteries each as well as connect the units to my car battery through the adapter and they do the same thing. The databases are from 1992 and 1993. When I was able to get the units to stay on, they seemed to work fine. I called Garmin and they suggested I try the two clearing procedures which I attempted. One unit won't stay on long enough to complete the procedure.
I can understand one unit going bad and doing this, but two seems too coincidental.
Anyone else experience this problem?
