I am interested in finding out what the price of refurbished Garmin
StreetPilot 2730s will be. I realize that this unit has not been on the
market very long, though. Is there any rul of thumb on how much less
refurbished units sell for? Maybe 10 or 20% less than new?

I just want to know what difrences ( besides price ) the refurbished unit would have? I am looking to buy the same unit , but never considered anything but new one. Am I doing a mistake. I will really apreciate any input. Thank you

Price is the only thing that I am aware of, although I suppose it is possible that Garmin updates the map(s) and/or operating software, but I honestly have absolutely no idea for certain.

My experience with refurbished products has not been good. Often these are products that have problems, they are returned, the mfg gives it a once-over and says "no problem found", cleans it up, sells it as refurbished. Then you buy it and encounter the same problem as the original purchaser. The warranty is also often very short or non-existant.

This is a bit late. Just joined the forum. I haven't done any reasearch on the 2730, but I have on the 2720. www.gpsdiscount.com has a new 2720 for 709.69 and a refurbished unit for 644.69. www.tigergps.com has a new unit for 759.99 and a refurbished for 659.99.

The sites I've looked at all offer a 1 year Garmin warranty on the frfurbished units, so I would think they'd be as good as a new one.

A new 2730 can be had from amazon.com (and that is amazon itself, not a third party seller) for US$788. That is a good deal (or at least it was at the time this message was written).
